This assessment is for adults who are wondering whether ADHD, autism, or a combined AuDHD presentation may help explain long-standing difficulties with attention, organisation, procrastination, impulsivity, restlessness, emotional regulation, social communication, sensory processing, routines, masking, relationships, work, education, or daily life.
Because ADHD and autism frequently overlap, some adults find that a combined assessment provides the clearest and most clinically useful understanding of their presentation.
The assessment is completed in line with recognised adult ADHD and adult autism assessment standards, including DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, structured clinical interview, developmental history, collateral information where available, functional impairment review, differential diagnosis, and Psychological Society of Ireland professional practice standards.

Why an Initial Clinical Assessment is Needed
ADHD and autism assessment needs to consider the full clinical picture. ADHD and autism can overlap with each other, as well as anxiety, trauma, depression, OCD, substance use, sleep difficulties, cognitive concerns, previous mental health diagnoses, personality-related difficulties, and other developmental or psychological factors.
Because of this, a brief screener alone is not enough to decide whether a full combined assessment is the right next step.
The Initial Clinical Assessment is the first stage of the assessment process. It gives time to understand your concerns, background, developmental history, current difficulties, mental health history, and any overlapping factors that may affect the assessment pathway.
This appointment is more than a brief screening call. It is a detailed clinician-led assessment that helps build an initial clinical picture, consider possible explanations for your difficulties, and identify the most appropriate next step.
In many cases, the Initial Clinical Assessment helps confirm whether a full combined AuDHD assessment is appropriate. In some cases, another pathway may be more suitable. If that happens, you will receive clear professional guidance and recommendations about the most appropriate next step for your needs.

Initial Clinical Assessment Booking
Initial Clinical Assessment Fee: €195
Once the Initial Clinical Assessment is booked and the €195 fee has been paid, you will receive screening and background forms to complete before the appointment.
These forms usually take around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. The forms help make the appointment focused and clinically useful. They are not used on their own to make a diagnosis or to decide the full assessment outcome.
The €195 Initial Clinical Assessment fee is part of the full AuDHD assessment fee. It is not added on top.
Comprehensive Autism Diagnostic Assessment
If a full combined assessment is recommended, the autism diagnostic assessment focuses on your current presentation and developmental history in relation to DSM-5-TR autism criteria.
This part of the assessment may include:
- Structured autism clinical assessment interview
- Detailed developmental history
- Review of current presentation across childhood and adulthood
- Autism-specific rating scales
- Sensory processing measures
- Executive functioning measures where clinically indicated
- Collateral information from a parent, partner, sibling, or other informant, where available
- Review of previous reports, educational records, or relevant clinical documentation, where available
- Direct clinical observation of communication, interaction style, emotional expression, flexibility, and sensory presentation
- Adapted use of ADOS-2 and ADI-R as part of the assessment process
Comprehensive ADHD Diagnostic Assessment
Remaining Balance: €1,795 (including feedback session and full diagnostic report)
The ADHD diagnostic assessment focuses on your current presentation and developmental history in relation to DSM-5-TR ADHD criteria.
This part of the assessment may include:
- Structured ADHD clinical assessment interview
- Developmental history
- ADHD rating scales
- Executive functioning measures
- Collateral information where available
- Review of functional impairment across daily life
- Other relevant psychometric or clinical information
Across both parts of the combined assessment, there is also consideration of co-occurring or alternative explanations, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, substance use, cognitive ability, sleep, physical health, and personality related factors.
The final diagnostic formulation is mapped against DSM-5-TR ADHD and autism criteria.
Remaining Balance: €1,795 (including feedback session and full diagnostic report)
If a full AuDHD assessment is recommended, the €195 already paid is deducted from the remaining balance.
Feedback and Diagnostic Report
The full combined assessment includes a feedback session and a written diagnostic report.
The report explains the information gathered, diagnostic reasoning, assessment outcome, and recommendations.
The report is completed in line with Psychological Society of Ireland professional practice standards and summarises the full assessment picture, including DSM-5-TR criteria, clinical interview, developmental history, psychometric information, collateral information where available, functional impact, adapted use of ADOS-2 and ADI-R, ADHD rating scales, and tailored recommendations.

The total fee for an AuDHD Dual Assessment is €1,990, which includes the Initial Clinical Assessment, comprehensive ADHD and autism assessment process, feedback session, and full diagnostic report.

Suitability for Online Assessment
Many adult combined ADHD and autism assessments can be completed online when the presentation is suitable and enough information is available.
However, online assessment may not be suitable in every case. A face-to-face or extended assessment may be recommended where there is:
- Complex mental health or trauma histories
- Cognitive, learning, or personality-related concerns
- Self-harming behaviours, suicide risk, or conflicting previous opinions
In these cases, the aim is to choose the assessment format that gives the clearest and most clinically reliable picture.
